Engaging the private sector in delivering health care and goods: Governance lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic

The private sector played a key part in the COVID-19 pandemic response.  Its resources and expertise were leveraged to enhance the delivery of health goods and services and  contributed to the overall resilience of health systems.  However, this collaboration was not universally positive and presented challenges, particularly around the issues of transparency and accountability. We now have useful evidence on how to support operational success and maintain financial probity in resource allocation and spending.
