COVID-19 Health System Response Monitor (HSRM)

The COVID-19 Health Systems Response Monitor (HSRM) contains information on how countries’ health systems responded to the pandemic between 2020 and early 2022. The Archive of individual country evidence is complemented by cross-country comparative Analyses which synthesise policy responses to key challenges presented by the crisis and point the way to building better-prepared and more resilient health systems.

Research Fellow

Biography

Sherry Merkur is a Research Fellow at the Observatory’s London hub and is based at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Sherry's research focuses on comparative health systems and policies. She has experience (and related publications) on the changing role of hospitals, person-centred care, the economics of health promotion and disease prevention, and pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement.  
 
Sherry contributes to the Observatory’s knowledge brokering programme as Editor-in-Chief of Eurohealth, the Observatory’s quarterly journal on health policy in Europe. She serves as study manager for analytical work resulting in Observatory books as well as project manager for externally funded projects.   

She also edits Health System Reviews (HiTs), Country Health Profiles within the State of Health in the EU programme as well as covers health system and policy developments in selected European countries. Recent country work has covered Belgium, Canada, Israel, Malta, Sweden and the United Kingdom. 
 
Sherry holds an MSc (with distinction) in Health, Population and Society from the LSE and a BSc in Physiology and Management from McGill University (Canada).
