Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan Consultation: factual report from the targeted stakeholder consultation

Overview

In early 2020, the European Commission launched a major consultation process on the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan (EBCP) that focuses on the future of cancer prevention, care and the well-being of people living with cancer. As part of this process, the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies was involved in various consultation stages and produced a number of reports for the European Commission to support the development of the EBCP, which was published in February 2021.

The Overview Report summarizes the key findings of the three EBCP consultation strands (consultation on the Roadmap, open public consultation, and targeted stakeholder consultation). It captures the cross-cutting conclusions, highlighting main themes, perceptions and concerns.

The EBCP Factual Report from the Targeted Stakeholder Consultation documents this particular consultation strand by capturing the findings that represent the views of a wide range of critical informants, including the representatives from patient organizations, various medical specialties, public health, academics, international organizations, etc., across the four EBCP pillars (prevention, early detection and diagnosis, treatment and care, quality of life for cancer patients, survivors and carers) and additional cross-sectional topics that were systematically raised by various stakeholders. The report also includes summary notes from the consultation meetings.
