Overview

In May 2015, over 150 patient leaders, health professionals, NGO representatives, researchers and policy-makers gathered in Brussels to explore the role of patient empowerment in building high- quality equitable, sustainable health systems in Europe. This marked the official launch of a major campaign on patient empowerment by the European Patients’ Forum (EPF), which works with the health community to take European discussions on this topic a crucial next step forward. The EPF is calling on EU decision-makers to adopt an EU strategy on patient empowerment, including an action plan on health literacy and high-quality information for patients on all aspects of their care.
