Overview

European health systems face challenges and financial pressures which threaten their long-term sustainability and the values of equity, universalism and solidarity which underpin them. Towards understanding potential future health system directions and how to plan for them, the WHO European Regional Office has established a Health Systems Foresight Group. The group will work with the Division of Health Systems and Public Health to develop scenarios and pragmatic and policy-oriented advice for policy-makers to address these challenges, also with the aim of ensuring that European health systems remain oriented around their shared values.
