Overview

Community pharmacies are Europe’s most widely distributed and accessible healthcare infrastructure: over 500,000 community pharmacists work in around 200,000 pharmacies, serving more than 500 million people. Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU) recently launched “A Vision for Community Pharmacy”. This strategic document describes how this network can help health systems respond to ageing, chronic disease, medicine shortages and crises, through acting as integrated community-based health hubs that combine clinical expertise, prevention and digital innovation.
