Overview
The COVID-19 pandemic is only the most recent crisis to face the global health community. As we look for lessons to help “build back better” we can draw inspiration from the response to the financial crisis, with mechanisms being created to reduce risks, strengthen preparedness, and ensure accountability. Drawing on this experience we can identify a set of measures that must be taken in the post-pandemic world. These include an international set of rules, with means of enforcement, a horizon scanning mechanism, a means of matching resources rapidly to an emerging threat, and a better understanding of global public goods.WHO Team
