Overview
The increased availability of data has enabled the development of Artificially Intelligent Systems (AIS) for health, but implementing these systems and capitalising on the associated opportunities is not straightforward. To mitigate these risks, outdated governance mechanisms need to be updated and key questions answered. To achieve this, whilst still supporting innovation, a new joint organisation for digital, data and technology in the English NHS (NHSX) is developing a ‘principled proportionate governance’ model that involves focusing on proactively and objectively evaluating current AIS technology and regularly involving all those who rely on and serve the health and care system.WHO Team
