WEBINAR - Wednesday, 24 May (10:00-11:30 CET)
In this interactive session we will look at common obstacles that patients in the WHO European Region must overcome before they can access the care they need. After identifying the main access barriers and gaps in data availability, we will discuss potential policy responses to meet the goal of ensuring Universal Health Coverage
Accessibility is multi-dimensional. These dimensions are best captured by highlighting the major barriers for patients that could inhibit universal access to health services: population coverage, scope of services, financial coverage, geographical factors,
organizational barriers, and care denial due to gaps in health literacy.
Health systems can provide extensive cover in some dimensions such as financial coverage or the range of services covered, but gaps in other dimensions can still act as a major barrier to care. Some groups are excluded from population coverage, other
patients must navigate waiting times, medical deserts or cultural barriers in order to access care.
But what do we know about coverage in Europe? Where are the gaps in the evidence base? How can we ease the patient’s journey? Join us to find out!
