Starting on 1 April 2022, Italy began a staged roll back of
the COVID-19 related public health safety restrictions under its Green
Pass/Super Green passes. During the pandemic, the passes were used to
document a person’s vaccination status, whether they had a negative
result from a COVID-19 test or whether they had recovered from a
COVID-19 infection. The passes determined access to a number of public
spaces and workplaces. Domestic Green Pass requirements were removed on 1
May 2022 except for certain hospital and Emergency Room situations. On 1
June 2022, restrictions were also removed for entry into the country,
meaning that travellers no longer need to show COVID-19 documentation
(vaccination status, recovery certificates or negative COVID-19 test).
