Restoring Public Coverage of In-Vitro Fertilization in Quebec
10 April 2020 | Country Update
In May 2019, the Quebec Health and Social Services Minister, Danielle McCann, announced the formation of an expert panel to lead the restoration of public coverage of in-vitro fertilization (IVF). In 2015, full public coverage for IVF procedures was cut to a single cycle paid for on a sliding scale. This resulted in many individuals opting for intrauterine insemination as a cheaper fertility treatment. The expert panel began meeting in April 2019 and aims to return public coverage of IVF for 2020. The focus of the group is on implementing information systems, organization of services, criteria eligibility, and program guidelines to ensure patient safety.
