Health governance changes for indigenous residents in Northern Ontario

In an effort to decolonize the provision of health services in Ontario’s North, the Governments of Ontario and Canada have partnered with the Nishnawbe Aski Nation as of November 17, 2017 to transform health service delivery 49 northern First Nation communities. The objectives of this ongoing transformation includes increases in health funding, the strengthening of community-driven processes, better matching services to addressing specific First Nations needs, and greater First Nation governance and management of health care.
