Canada’s National Dementia Strategy

On 22 June 2017, The Government of Canada passed Bill C-233, making Canada the 30th country to pass into law a national dementia strategy to enhance dementia-related clinical, therapeutic and health system research efforts, and ensure access to quality care and support for persons living with dementia across Canada. This strategy represents a legal commitment at the federal level to address dementia, the prevalence and associated economic burden of which are expected to be 1,125,200 million people and $872 billion (CAD), respectively by 2038.
