Business structure
The European Observatory is a partnership hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Europe. Its staff are WHO employees and its operations and work is funded by WHO and partner institutions (which included national governments, international organisations and academic institutions. The European Observatory operates as a not-for-profit institution. Its publishing programme is entirely open access and no charges are levied or demanded for subscriptions to its journals or other publications. The European Observatory conforms to all editorial, ethical and financial management policies of WHO.
Editorial management
Editor selection
The Editorial Management Team is based at London Hub (LSE) of the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies and works closely with the Editorial Board. Since Eurohealth draws on the expertise and network of the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies - which brings together policymakers, eminent academics and research centres from across Europe - Guest Editors come on board to participate in Special Issues linked to high-level conferences, important anniversaries, and the annual European Health Forum Gastein (that latter for the past nine consecutive years).
Management team members
Sherry Merkur, Editor-in-Chief Eurohealth journal and Research Fellow, European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, London Hub, London School of Economics and Political Science, UK. Sherry began as Deputy Editor of Eurohealth in 2006. She was promoted to Editor in 2010, and since 2019 she has taken on the role of Editor-in-Chief.
Gemma A Williams, Research Fellow, European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, London Hub, London School of Economics and Political Science, UK.
Gemma has been part of the Eurohealth Senior Editorial Team since January 2019.
