Cristina Hernández-Quevedo
Research Fellow
Biography
Cristina is a Research Fellow at the European Observatory on Health
Systems and Policies, based at the London School of Economics and
Political Science (LSE).
Cristina works on a
range of projects on health systems’ monitoring, international health
care comparisons and performance assessment at European level. In
particular, she works as editor and author of the Health Systems in
Transition (HiT) reviews, State of Health in the EU Country Profiles,
and Health Systems and Policy Monitor platform for a range of countries,
including Denmark, France, Portugal, Romania, Serbia and Spain.
Cristina’s
research interests include: inequalities in health and lifestyle
factors, equity in access to health and social care services,
socioeconomic determinants of health and European health systems and
policies. She has published numerous articles and book chapters on these
topics.
Before joining the European
Observatory in 2007, Cristina worked as a Research Fellow in the
EU-funded project “ECuity Project”, led by Professor Andrew Jones
(University of York) and Professor Eddy van Doorslaer (Erasmus
University Rotterdam) at the University of York. Cristina holds a PhD in
Economics (2007) and a master’s degree in Health Economics (2003) from
the University of York, United Kingdom, and a bachelor’s degree in
Economics from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
(2002).
