Personalized medicine offers an exciting prospect for prevention, diagnostics and treatments by tailoring interventions to patient’s genomic profiles. However, translating discoveries into care for allis complex and requires overcoming of not only operational and financial hurdles, but also ethical, legal, and evidence-generation challenges.

Genomic data can only be collected, managed and used effectively if there is trust, appropriate infrastructure and training. This needs strong, transparent governance to balance patients and research needs.
