Changes in health insurance in the Netherlands in 2024
02 February 2024 | Country Update
There have been several developments for 2024 to the Dutch health
insurance. In 2024, the mandatory deductible (385 Euro per year) and the
maximum out-of-pocket expenditure for prescribed medicines (250 Euro
per year) have not changed compared to 2023. Meanwhile, maternity care
has become more flexible and is now possible for up to six weeks,
whereas the previous maximum was 10 days after delivery. To implement
this effectively, a new care protocol needs to be developed. In
addition, fall prevention measures have been introduced and will be
covered under the basic benefits package for elderly at high risk for
falls and who have additional somatic or mental problems.
